Ticket giveaway configuration

With InEvent, event organizers can allow attendees who hold tickets to give away their tickets to other people using the Ticket giveaway feature.

This article will guide you through the steps of activating and configuring Ticket giveaway.

Enabling ticket giveaway

To allow attendees to give away their tickets, you must first have Tickets enabled.

To enable Ticket giveaway, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Registration > Registration form.
  2. Press the Settings button at the top right corner of the page.
  3. Locate the Ticket giveaway tool in the Registration section.
  4. Toggle the button beside it on.
  5. Click on the X button to close the Settings window.

Once you have completed the steps above, attendees who hold tickets will be able to give away their tickets to other people.

When Invite requirement is enabled alongside Ticket giveaway, guests who are sent a ticket, will get an invitation email, but will not have access to the registration form in the email. Only people in the Invite list will have access to the registration form and can register for the event. To allow all guests access the registration form, ensure to disable the Invite requirement feature.

Are there features that are incompatible with Ticket giveaway?

The following features are incompatible with Ticket giveaway:

Although the features above will not display an error message on the platform when enabled alongside Ticket giveaway, they must however be disabled for the Ticket giveaway feature to function as expected.

Hiding the manual ticket invite option

When ticket holders give away their tickets, they have the option to fill out the ticket invite form on behalf of their guest by pressing Fill in now for your guest instead of the Send button.

If you do not want your attendees to fill in the contact details for the ticket recipient, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Tools.
  2. Locate Hide manual ticket invite under the Block section.
  3. Click Edit on the top right corner of the page.
  4. Check the Hide manual ticket box.
  5. Press End to save your changes.

After completing the steps above, ticket holders will be unable to fill in the contact details for the ticket recipient.

Preventing giveaway of specific ticket types

Once you have enabled Ticket giveaway through Registration form > Settings, all available tickets can be given away by attendees. To prevent attendees from giving away specific ticket types, follow the instructions below:

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Tickets > Tickets.
  2. Locate the ticket you want to restrict.
  3. Press the blue button on the rightmost column to Open ticket details.

  1. Click Edit on the top right corner of the page.
  2. Uncheck the Can giveaway ticket box.
  3. Press End to save your changes.

After completing the steps above, holders of the configured ticket type will be unable to give their ticket away.
