Customizable tabs

You can customize the title of the tabs as well as their order of presentation on the Virtual Lobby and mobile app. In addition, you can decide the appropriate title for each of the features, delivering the experience expected in your event for each attendee. The tabs can be rearranged to fit the position you would like and prioritizing the tools that you may consider to be the most important.

How do I create tabs?

To create tabs, you will need to select either Live App or Virtual Lobby. The Virtual Rooms option will only allow you to customize the tabs that already exist.

There are two types of tabs you can choose from when creating a tab:

  • Custom tabs
  • Website sections
If you select the option Live App, you will be able to create custom tabs. If you select the option Virtual Lobby, you will be able to create either custom tabs or website sections.

Custom tabs

To create a new tab, select one of the options displayed on the upper left: Live App or Virtual Lobby. Then, click on + New item button in the top left corner, then fill in the Item title and Item link information, in case you want to redirect your direct tab to a new link.

If you want to add material in PDF, MP4 or JPEG / PNG format, simply click the red folder button and select the file. Then press the blue Create button.

How to create custom tabs

You can only create a new custom tab if you include either a link or an image/file.

Website sections

Besides the option to create a custom tab, you can also create a tab from the website sections template. To do so, press Virtual Lobby on the upper left, and click + New Item. A new window will pop up and under Item type you should select Website section.

The option to create a website section tab will not show up if you select Live App or Virtual Rooms in the upper left. In order to have website sections, you must select Virtual Lobby.
Custom sections

Once you select this option, you will need to set up the items below:

  • Item title: you should type in the tab title that should be displayed on the Virtual Lobby menu
  • Template: you will have a list of website template options for you to choose from on the dropdown bar. The template will determine your tab's layout. You can see what the tab is going to look like under Preview.
When creating a tab from a website section, you don’t need to use the same template you have selected for your website. Besides that, you can create two tabs from website sections using different templates. For example, you can create a Photos section using the Callisto template, and a Sponsors section using the template Andromeda-light.
  • Section: you will have a list of website sections options for you to choose from on the dropdown bar. Click here for further information on website sections.
The website sections created as a tab will not be displayed on your website. For it to be displayed on your website, you will need to set it up on Marketing > Landing pages > Website. Click here to learn how to add sections to your website.

Once you have set it all up, press Create.

When attempting to embed a website into the Lobby, you may occasionally run into some errors such as seeing a blank white box or an error notification. This is because not all websites can or allow themselves to be embedded.

Can I hide the Virtual Lobby tab?

Some event organizers do not want the attendees to have access to the Virtual Lobby before the event starts. If that's the case, you could hide the Virtual Lobby tab until before the event starts by pressing Settings > Tabs > Virtual Lobby (in the upper left) > and uncheck the Visible column related to the Virtual Lobby.

After doing that, the Virtual Lobby icon should disappear from the Lobby's menu, but under My Account, the Open Lobby button will still be displayed. To hide these buttons, you will need to edit your Source Code via CSS. Please check this article to learn how to do it.
